Ready to inoculate — precise, clean, high‑performing.
Key points
- Ready‑to‑use: 100% colonised & consolidated
- 9 species for gourmet & educational use
- Sterilised grain and QC before shipping
- Swiss artisan manufacturing
- Compatible with straw, hardwood sawdust and chips
What it’s for
Grain spawn is sterile grain already colonised by living mycelium. Mix it directly into solid substrates to achieve fast, even colonisation with no intermediate steps.
Why you’ll love it
- Saves time and improves consistency vs starting from liquid culture
- High mycelial density for a decisive substrate “take”
- Great for workshops & learning thanks to clearly visible mycelium
Contents & composition
Format: 1 kg bag (single size)
Grain: sterilised rye
Bag: polypropylene with filter patch (standard micron rating); no injection port
Shipping state: 100% colonised and rested 5–10 days after full colonisation
Species offered :
as above (oyster variants, Shiitake, Chestnut, Lion’s Mane, Tinder fungus)
How to use
Prepare substrate:
Straw: pasteurise at 65–70 °C for 60–120 min; drain to ~60–65% moisture.
Hardwood sawdust/chips: pressure sterilisation recommended (autoclave/pressure cooker).
Inoculate
Gently break up spawn and mix evenly into cooled substrate.
Typical rate 5–10% (wet weight), up to 15% for faster start or demanding substrates.
Incubate
clean & dark, 10–30 °C, 7–21 days depending on species.
Fruit
Cut/open per method; 85–95% RH, diffuse light, appropriate gas exchange.
Specs & recommendations
- Storage: 2–8 °C, use ideally within 2–3 months; sooner is better
- Shipping: ambient for a few days is fine; refrigerate on receipt
- Recommended substrates: pasteurised straw, hardwood sawdust (oak/beech), fine chips, enriched mixes
- Watch‑outs: strict hygiene; substrate moisture 60–65%; avoid over‑compaction; prefer hardwoods (softwoods discouraged)

Safety & precautions
- Non‑psychoactive species
- Grain spawn is not food; only properly cooked edible fruiting bodies are for consumption
- Allergens/spores: work in a ventilated space; a mask can help
- Tinder fungus: not edible; for education, demo and artistic use
Sustainability & origin
Swiss small‑batch preparation
CH‑sourced grain; PP bags with filter patch
Spent substrates can be reused in the garden (bag excluded)
Availability & shipping
- Ships when a lot is ready: next‑day if stocked; otherwise 1–2 weeks (up to 3 for dedicated runs)
- Service areas: Switzerland, Europe & international; USA not currently served
- Robust packaging without ice; refrigerate on receipt and use promptly
Guarantee, quality & responsibility
- High‑pressure sterilisation of grain & visual QC; batch traceable
- If damaged or clearly contaminated on arrival: replacement/refund within 14 days (photos of sealed bag + lot no.)

FAQ
Difference vs liquid culture?
Liquid = mycelium in sterile solution; grain spawn = ready to seed solid substrates, usually faster/more even for straw/sawdust.
How much can 1 kg inoculate?
Typically 5–10 kg of substrate (5–10%), up to 15% to speed up.
Storage time?
2–8 °C; ideally within 2–3 months.
Bag arrived warm?
Normal: ambient shipping for a few days is fine; chill on receipt and use soon.
Why did my grow fail?
Common causes: hygiene, moisture off, wrong temps or over‑compaction.
